Who We Are


Welcome to our site!  We are the Southwest Hypnotherapists Examining Board (SHEB).  We are a voluntary, not-for-profit, non-governmental organization whose function is to manage a certification system for the practice of hypnotherapy.  Our goal is to promote public confidence in the qualifications of its practicing professionals and to advocate for the public's health, safety and welfare when choosing a hypnotherapist.

SHEB-certified hypnotherapists must adhere to a strict Code of Ethics:  

•We will not misrepresent our credentials, degrees, or competencies whether through spoken word, written word, or other forms of communication.

•We are prohibited from offering guarantees or claims of success in our advertising or scope of practice material.

•We are prohibited from having dual relationships with clients.

•We will not provide services when impaired due to mental, emotional, physical, or substance abuse conditions.

•We will keep ourselves informed of laws of the state that relate to our profession.

•We are required to provide each client with a Professional Disclosure Form that lists our philosophy and the clients rights prior to commencing services.

•We will store and dispose of all client records in such a manner as to ensure confidentiality.
